On February 20, a 20-episode television lecture about Chinese clothing was broadcast in“Lecture Room” of China Central Television, which was given by Associate professor Li Renfei from School of Humanities of SWJTU. On the purpose of exploring the development of Chinese thinking and telling Chinese traditional culture, professor Li explained history stories andclassical allusions in view of Chinese clothing.
In recent years, we can constantly get news about misunderstanding or distortion about Chinese traditional clothing, which largely resulted from some history television programs or advertisements.In response to this social phenomenon, associate professor Li Renfei put forward his own point of view: China once was the“country of clothing”, we can not accept the decline of the culture of traditional clothing. So from February 20, he has been giving the lectures about Chinese clothing on China Central Television. The relevant book was also published by Youth Publishing House of China. A few day ago, professor Li accepted the special interview from China Youth Daily.
Professor Li told the reporter that there three directions ofclothingaesthetic:be in harmony with nature, society and people themselves. The western countries pay more attention to bein harmony with people, so their clothing design fully unfolds the charm of men and women. This easy and visible appeal can win more agreement all over the world. Theaesthetic Chinese traditional clothing regard inner world and nature, which can only be understand after learning more about traditional culture.With the changes of social environment, traditional clothing surly needs creation and development. The question is, we have already concentrated efforts to imitate western design. But we did not enough in combining tradition with modern fashion.“No matter how to change and create, the soul in traditional clothing must be retained.” Li said.
